Employers’ social security payments postponed
On Wednesday 13 May 2020, the Chamber of Deputies approved the option of postponing payments of social security made by employers for the period May to July until 20 October 2020. This option concerns only the payments made by employers in the amount of 24.8 per cent of gross wages. The payments made by employees in the amount of 6.5 per cent of gross wages must be paid on time. Nevertheless, the unpaid social security will be subject to a late payment penalty which will be reduced by 80 per cent compared to the regular rate.
The proposed bill must be approved in the Senate and signed by the president. The act will be effective from the date of its approval.
